He then took a long break from Karate & took up other sports such as boxing ,cycling and running where he did several half marathons and completed two Dublin City Marathons.

However, after getting married and moving to the opposite side of the city he found he missed Kenpo Karate too much and sought out a club near his home in Coolock. In 2006 he joined the Kenpo Karate club in Coolock run by Mr Jason O Keeffe and in that he found his spiritual home. He was part of the group who founded irishkenpo.com in 2007 alongside Mr O Keeffe and has served it well since then. He has seen it grow from just one club to to its present four clubs and in the not too distant future he hopes to make it five with the opening of his own club soon.

Having retired from fighting his greatest pleasure is seeing the juniors in the clubs grow with confidence as they progress through the system and go on to the senior class eventually grading for their Black Belt. These youngsters are the future of irishkenpo.com & the future looks very bright!

Michael loves the "Kenpo family" & has made many friends across the world over the years, he has also travelled extensively with irishkenpo.com visiting,Spain U.S.A ,England & various parts of Europe. His pet hate is Politics in sport....."just turn up and train, nothing else matters"!
